ST. LOUIS — Lamar County Electric Cooperative Association (ECA) announced plans to use Aclara Technologies LLC’s eTWACS® power line communications system for its advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) requirements, according to a press release.
Over the next two years, Lamar County ECA, based in Paris, Texas, will start to replace its legacy system with Aclara’s eTWACS solution, stated the release.
The release reported that data provided by Aclara’s AMI system will allow Lamar Country ECA to better understand usage patterns and identify programs reducing system peaks and costs.
Meters on the system can also be connected automatically, eliminating service calls, continued the release.
“Aclara’s advanced, reliable technology will provide fast and accurate meter reads, and automated meter reading procedures, as well as [reduce] the time at which problems can be discovered and alleviated,” said Lamar County ECA General Manager and CEO Jerry D. Williams. “We have also implemented other uses, like outage assessment and restoration using the company’s PROASYS® software.”
Aclara is a provider of smart infrastructure technologies to gas, electric and water utilities, noted the release.
