ATHENS, Greece — The Global Water Intelligence (GWI) and the International Desalination Association (IDA) announced the top keynote speaker lineup for the Global Water Summit 2015, according to a press release.
The Global Water Summit 2015, hosted by GWI and IDA, will be held April 27-28, 2015, in Athens at the InterContinental Hotel Athenaeum, stated the release.
Dubbed “The Water Value Revolution,” this year’s summit “aims to determine water's key role in the future of sustainable economic growth and to revolutionize the role of water in the global economy,” continued the release.
The release reported that the top keynote speakers are drawn from major water-utilizing industries including oil and gas, mining, the food and beverage, as well as private and public sector utilities.
The release noted that the keynote speakers confirmed thus far include: Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, chair of the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), director general of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and prominent researcher on environmental issues; presenting the Global Water Awards is José Manuel Barroso, president of the European Commission and prime minister of Portugal; and Dame Ellen MacArthur, who became the fastest solo sailor to circumnavigate the globe in 2005, and launched the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in 2010, “working with education and businesses to accelerate the transition to a regenerative circular economy.”
Formats included in the Global Water Summit 2015 include workshops, dedicated networking roundtables, plenary talks, breakout sessions and prearranged one-on-one meetings, added the release.
