GE releases white paper on reuse policy options at Water Arabia 2015 Conference & Exhibition

AL KHOBAR, Saudi Arabia — The white paper, “Addressing Water Scarcity in Saudi Arabia: Policy Options for Continued Success,” highlights four major water reuse policy options including mandates and regulations, education and outreach, removing barriers and incentives.

AL KHOBAR, Saudi Arabia — GE unveiled an industry white paper, “Addressing Water Scarcity in Saudi Arabia: Policy Options for Continued Success,” at the Water Arabia 2015 Conference & Exhibition held Feb. 17-19 at Le Meridien Hotel in Al Khobar, according to a press release.

The white paper highlights four major water reuse policy options including mandates and regulations, education and outreach, removing barriers and incentives, stated the release.

This year’s theme of the Water Arabia 2015 Conference & Exhibition, organized by the Saudi Arabian Water Environment Association and the Water Environment Federation, was “Innovative & Reliable Water and Wastewater Technologies for Sustainable Water Quality, reported the release.

GE’s new white paper presents the water reuse landscape for Saudi Arabia, water reuse policy and regulations, successful case studies from markets like Bahrain and a variety of technology options to address water reuse challenges, continued the release.

“GE’s industry white paper, developed following extensive research of [Saudi Arabia’s] water landscape, underlines our commitment to support Saudi Arabia in promoting water reuse, one of the strategies being adopted by the government to address increased demand,” said Heiner Markhoff, president and CEO, Water & Process Technologies, GE Power & Water. “One of the challenges in implementing efficient water recycling and reuse programs is to find reliable data and information on policy options. The white paper presents strong policy options that are available to governments as well as how advanced technology platforms can help achieve the goal.”

The white paper was co-authored by Jon Freedman, global government affairs leader, Water & Process Technologies, GE Power & Water; and Colin Enssle, senior manager, Water & Process Technologies, GE Power & Water, noted the release.
