BROOMFIELD, Colo. — MWH Global announced it was awarded a contract by the city of San Diego, California, to manage and assist in the delivery of Pure Water San Diego, according to a press release.
The initial five-year, $30 million contract, in partnership with Brown and Caldwell, includes program management services to transition the program from planning into implementation, stated the release.
The release reported that Pure Water San Diego, a roughly $2.7 billion program, will supply cost-effective, safe and reliable drinking water for San Diego and will use proven technology to purify recycled water, allowing the city to become more water independent and resilient against drought, climate change and natural disasters.
“Pure Water San Diego is needed to secure a long-term, reliable water supply for the city,” said Halla Razak, director for the city of San Diego Public Utilities Department. “We look forward to working closely with the team on the implementation of this very critical program.”
MWH Global and Brown and Caldwell will work together, noted the release, to provide strategic planning, program controls, predesign of conveyance and treatment facilities, project delivery, design oversight and management, regulatory permitting, outreach and public education, pilot testing of proposed technologies, quality management and risk mitigation services.
