LUBBOCK, Texas — Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam Inc. (LAN) received the Trailblazer Award by the South Plains Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) for LAN’s work on the Canyon Lakes Sanitary Sewer Interceptor improvements, according to a press release.
The Trailblazer Award recognizes the best engineering project, invention or product in the Lubbock area, stated the release.
LAN was presented with the award during the South Plains Chapter’s Engineer’s Week Banquet held March 3 at the Museum of Agriculture, continued the release.
The Canyon Lakes Sanitary Sewer Interceptor, reported the release, conveys “peak wastewater flows” of nearly 10 million gallons per day from more than 30,000 Northwest and Northeast residences and businesses in Lubbock.
The city experienced infiltration problems and overflows as the interceptor surpassed its design life over the years, and to solve this issue, LAN worked together with Clean Service Inc., aci Consulting, Hugo Reed & Associates and environmental professional Paige Ginn “to perform a condition assessment and design improvements” for the sewer pipeline, noted the release.
“The project will improve the reliability of the Canyon Lakes Sanitary Sewer Interceptor and minimize possible overflows and infiltration problems along the sewer line,” said LAN Vice President Drew Hardin, P.E.
