DENVER — The Partnership for Safe Water program honored Pennsylvania American Water’s Norristown Water Treatment Plant with the Presidents Award, according to a press release.
Participating in the program since 1996, Pennsylvania American Water’s facility is the only facility in the state of Pennsylvania to earn the Presidents Award this year, and the plant received the Directors Award in 2000, stated the release.
The Norristown plant is Pennsylvania American Water’s second plant to be recognized with the Presidents Award, continued the release.
The award, reported the release, recognizes “achieving stringent individual filter performance goals for turbidity,” and the goals of the award are the highest level of performance that can be achieved in the Partnership for Safe Water program.
“Our Norristown team worked very hard to earn the Presidents Award, and this recognition is a testament to their expertise and dedication to better serve our customers,” said Paul Zielinski, senior director of water quality and environmental compliance for Pennsylvania American Water. “Reaching this elite status is a significant achievement in our ongoing efforts to not only meet stringent performance goals but also improve the quality of our water.”
Partnership for Safe Water is a volunteer initiative developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), American Water Works Association (AWWA), Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and other organizations representing water suppliers, noted the release.
