NGWA flagship technical journal publishes review paper on carbon sequestration in saline aquifers

WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The 19-page review paper titled, “Multiphase Modeling of Geologic Carbon Sequestration in Saline Aquifers,” is available through the Wiley Online Library.

WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Groundwater®, the National Ground Water Association’s (NGWA) flagship technical journal, recently published a review paper titled, “Multiphase Modeling of Geologic Carbon Sequestration in Saline Aquifers,” highlighting carbon sequestration in saline aquifers to mitigate climate change, according to a press release.

The 19-page review paper, which will appear in the May-June 2015 issue, is now available through the Wiley Online Library, stated the release.

The paper, continued the release, is authored by Karl W. Bandilla, Jens T. Birkholzer, Michael A. Celia, Evan C. Leister and Abdullah Cihan, who are all affiliated with Princeton University and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and are prominent experts in the field of carbon sequestration.

A framework of “the conceptual complexity” and different type of modeling approach utilized to address geologic carbon sequestration issues is offered in the review paper, noted the release.

“I consider this a seminal paper that offers a treasure of information and references related to the modeling of carbon dioxide entrapment in deep saline aquifers,” said Groundwater Editor-in-Chief Hendrik M. Haitjema, Ph.D.
