Singapore and South Korea national water utilities announce collaboration

SINGAPORE — The signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) marks the first collaboration between PUB, Singapore’s national water agency, and Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water), South Korea’s national water utility.

SINGAPORE — Singapore’s national water agency, PUB, and South Korea’s national water utility, Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water), signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), according to a press release.

The MOU is to collaborate on knowledge sharing and developing innovative solutions in four areas: Water quality monitoring, water treatment processes, smart water grids and green energy, stated the release.

Within the four areas highlighted in the MOU, continued the release, more specific focuses include: Rapid detection of contaminants — water quality monitoring; membrane technology — water treatment processes; automatic meter reading — smart water grids; and photovoltaic systems — green energy.

This is the first collaboration between the two national water utilities, added the release.

“Technology is a key driver in Singapore’s journey towards water sustainability,” said PUB Chief Technology Officer Harry Seah. “As utilities around the world face common global challenges, it is beneficial for us to come together and jointly work on innovative solutions to overcome these challenges. This strategic partnership will enable both PUB and K-water to tap on the synergies gained from the exchange of valuable technical knowledge and experiences.”
