Dow infographic breaks down fresh water use for energy production

MIDLAND, Mich. — According to Dow Water & Process Solutions’ infographic, 154.3 trillion gallons of fresh water are withdrawn for energy production each year.

MIDLAND, Mich. — An infographic released by Dow Water & Process Solutions titled, "Our Water Splashprint," breaks down fresh water and energy usage.

"Much like a carbon footprint, we all have a water splashprint — the impact on fresh water we have when we do simple, everyday things," stated the infographic.

According to the infographic, each person needs five to 13 gallons of water per day for cleaning, cooking and drinking, however, "each person uses much more than just five to 13 gallons of water each day, with something as simple as a flip of a light switch."

The infographic continues that it can take around 16 gallons of water to power one 60-watt lightbulb for 12 hours.

Each year, 154.3 trillion gallons of fresh water are withdrawn for energy production, reported the infographic.
