LONDON, England — A small study conducted in London, England shows that drinking water may help improve mental performance, according to Fox News.
Participants were set up to take a battery of cognitive tests, but before doing so they drank 24 ounces of water.
The findings showed that these participants performed better on a test that measured reaction times compared with those who did no drinking, stated the article.
Researchers believe the sensation of thirst could take away attention from completing the task at hand; therefore, the quenching of thirst frees up attentional resources.
