SEATTLE — The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region 10, completed over 20 environmental compliance and enforcement actions in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington in April through June 2013, according to a press release.
Violations of environmental laws can put public health and the environment at risk. EPA enforces federal environmental laws to protect people’s health and to keep our region’s air, land and water clean and healthy, stated the release.
These compliance and enforcement efforts also help level the playing field by deterring violators who might otherwise have an unfair business advantage over their environmentally compliant competitors, noted the release.
Some of these violations include: wastewater discharge; violation of underground storage tank rules; violation of wastewater permit; underground injection wells; and violation of air pollution limits.
