DALLAS — This special collaboration will help reconnect local communities with their waterways.

DALLAS — EPA and 13 other federal partners are working together with San Antonio to revitalize the San Antonio River Basin and improve the local community, according to a press release.

This special collaboration will help reconnect local communities with their waterways, stated the release.

The release reported that improving the coordination among federal agencies and collaborating with community-led revitalization efforts will improve the river basin and promote environmental, economic and social benefits.

“We are looking forward to working with our federal partners to strengthen the San Antonio River Basin and the surrounding community,” said EPA Regional Administrator Ron Curry. “The Urban Waters collaboration will boost recreation, help the economy, create jobs and most importantly protect Americans’ health.”

Earlier in 2014, EPA selected more than 30 organizations to receive $40,000 to $60,000 in grants each, amounting to approximately $2.1 million to support EPA Urban Water projects, noted the release.
