DENVER — The company aims to lower operational costs and improve infrastructure maintenance and the SCADA system.

DENVER — CH2M will partner with the Vancouver, Washington, city council to oversee the operation and maintenance of the city’s two wastewater treatment plants for 10 years, according to a press release.

The company will also manage eight pump stations under the agreement, noted the release. CH2M will begin operating the facilities, which produce 44 million gallons per day and serves 220,000 residents, on Jan. 1, 2016.

The city selected CH2M after a year-long process, stated the release. The company aims to lower operational costs and improve infrastructure maintenance through achieving International Organization for Standardization 55001 compliance. It will also improve the supervisory control and data acquisition system (SCADA).

"For many years, the City of Vancouver has enjoyed tremendous success under a public-private partnership approach to provide cost effective and award winning wastewater treatment to our community. We are confident that our new partnership with CH2M will continue and build upon that success well into the future," says Brian Carlson, Vancouver’s public works director, in the release.

CH2M has worked with the municipality’s wastewater system for more than three decades, reported the release.

"Our team’s unique understanding of Vancouver’s facilities and the relationships our team has forged with staff helped distinguish CH2M," said Greg McIntyre, global water business group president for CH2M, in the release. "We are honored to take on this new opportunity to serve the City of Vancouver with a utility renowned for its commitment to environmental stewardship and superior customer service.”
