From the Editor: Rounding out another busy year

Dec. 1, 2015

As we close out our last issue of 2015, we wish you and your families happy holidays and a prosperous New Year!

This is our December issue … the last issue of the year for Water Technology and my seventh since joining the team. Oddly, I feel like I’ve been here longer because I have met so many wonderful people in this industry and talked with many readers about what they love most in this magazine. One topic that drew people to our booth during the 2015 Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) was our cover featuring technology that removes arsenic from drinking water.

Attendees saw the cover display as part of our booth graphics and requested more information about the adsorption media technique.

Because of this popularity, we decided to feature an alternative arsenic removal technology on our final cover of 2015. Distillation, which has been used to treat water for centuries, is detailed here. This point-of-use technique does not remove the contaminants from the water. It removes the water from the contaminants.

Also, Dr. Joe Cotruvo discusses an emerging source of water in his Professor POU/POE column. Articles on atmospheric water generation have been featured on watertechonline.com several times. However, in this column, Cotruvo covers how air to water systems may be an alternative to traditional systems in water-scarce regions.

Be sure to check out our new "Inside the Water Industry" section to learn about companies that can provide new products and services for your dealership portfolio.

As we close out our last issue of 2015, we wish you and your families happy holidays and a prosperous New Year!
