GENEVA — To help raise awareness on the importance of safe, clean water, Acqua for Life 2015 is challenging bloggers, the media and online personalities throughout the world to try to live on just 10 liters of water for one day.

GENEVA — Giorgio Armani and Green Cross International will team together for Acqua for Life for the fifth successive year in support of communities living in water poverty, according to a press release.

This year, the collaboration will sponsor new developments in Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal, Bolivia, China, Mexico and — for the first time — Argentina, stated the release.

The new developments will join around 80 communities around the world now benefiting from clean water as a result of Acqua for Life projects, continued the release.

The first Acqua for Life 2015 initiative in Argentina, reported the release, will focus on the Chubut Province of Patagonia, which is a region affected by poverty and a harsh climate.

A water well, around 984 feet deep, will be built near Gastre, Argentina, to secure the local water supply and irrigate a greenhouse facility that grows vegetables and fruits year round, added the release.

“Green Cross and Giorgio Armani will also continue to raise awareness of water poverty in developed and water-rich countries throughout 2015, while carrying out concrete, on-the-ground projects to supply deprived communities with secure, safe and sustainable water,” stated the release. “Green Cross provides millions of liters of safe water each year by building wells, rainwater harvesting systems, boreholes and water pumps.”

Acqua for Life 2015 is challenging bloggers, the media and online personalities throughout the world to try to live on just 10 liters of water for one day, and the experiences of those committing to the challenge can be followed through the hashtags: #1DayOn10liters, #Helpgivewater and #Acquaforlife as well as through the Acqua for Life website, www.acquaforlife.org, noted the release.
