NORTHFIELD, Ill. — A report released by the McIlvaine Company forecasts substantial growth in sales for the granular filter market in 2015.

NORTHFIELD, Ill. — The “Liquid Filtration and Media World Markets” report, published by the McIlvaine Company, estimates that the sale of granular media filters used to purify water will exceed $1.7 billion in 2015, according to a press release.

The report forecasts that East Asia will be the largest purchaser, due to the investment in drinking and wastewater facilities for the rapidly growing populations throughout the region, and West Asia will be the second largest regional purchaser, stated the release.

The release reported that granular media filters are loaded with sand to remove particulate and can also be loaded with activated carbon to remove contaminants that affect the taste of water.

The oil and gas industry is one of the leading growth areas for water purification, noted the release.
