Heavy rain overwhelms storm sewers, traps passengers on train

TORONTO, Canada — Passengers were pulled out of train windows and brought to safety on rescue boats.

TORONTO, Canada — Heavy rain in the Toronto, Canada area on July 8, 2013 trapped commuters traveling by train or car, according to CNN.

A double-decker Go Transit train and its passenger found themselves in the middle of flash flooding as the line was submerged, leaving them ankle deep in water, stated the article.

An evacuation quickly took place to rescue the passengers from the submerged train by pulling them out of train windows and into rescue boats.

Police said stranded passengers were safely removed and taken to a place of safety.

Toronto’s storm sewers were overwhelmed by the heavy rainfall sending the Don River out of its banks, noted the article.
