Y-pattern valve

For industrial process water/wastewater applications, Burkert's Type 2000 Y-Pattern Valve serves as an alternative to ball valves. Field proven to 5 million cycles, the 2/2-way valve provides three to five times the cycle life of ball valves (flow rates for both valve types are similar). In addition, it is 50% more economical than ball valves, thanks to lower acquisition, installation and operating costs (e.g. minimized air consumption). The externally piloted valve is available in two basic versions: 1) a standalone on/off unit with a single- or double-acting piston actuator, 2) a complete on/off or proportional process control valve with Burkert's Type 8631 TOP Control head.

The Schreiber Fuzzy Filter is a high rate compressible media filter. 1 MGD can be processed by a 5' x 5' filter. The media bed is composed of fibrous balls that are compressed to achieve variable particle removal down to four microns. The system is fully automated, requires a very small footprint and the media is reusable for many years. The media is renewed by air sparging that fluidizes and expands the media bed to mechanically release captured solids and achieve total media cleaning.

Grease reduction

Novozymes has announced the award of United States Patent # 6,649,401, on a unique, stable microorganism strain that degrades the long-chain fatty acids responsible for grease-related problems in wastewater collection and treatment. This strain is the first in a new series of specialized microorganisms produced by proprietary selection techniques. This series is considered so unique, that new strains are being branded as "BioS™" technology. Not only does this new strain, BioS 3112, rapidly degrade long-chain fatty acids, its lipophilic nature makes it adhere to grease deposits for maximum contact and retention time.
