CertainTeed Certa-Lok™ C900/RJ PVC Pipe is designed for use in directional drilling and other restrained joint applications. The pipe requires no special heat-fusion equipment, saving contractors a significant amount of time and money. Its joints are assembled as the pullback continues, so streets remain open and clear. And compared to alternate thermoplastic materials, higher-strength PVC requires a much thinner wall to achieve the same pressure rating. Because of this, a smaller diameter pipe can often be used. Suitable applications include fluid transport for process cooling water, industrial water treatment, bulk water distribution and chemical processing across a variety of industries. The system is available in pipe sizes from 2" to 36" with molded fittings from 2" to 12" and fabricated fittings from 14" to 36." GF Piping Systems, Tustin, CA, 800-854-4090, www.gfpiping.com
Expansion jointsThe Force Balanced Flex-Tend® Flexible Expansion Joint from EBAA Iron can accommodate pressure-induced thrust forces. It uses an additional water chamber piston that acts in the equal and opposite direction of the imparting thrust and neutralizes the thrust forces. This allows designers to use flexible expansion joints in applications where thrust blocks or other force-restricting devices are not applicable. Force balanced joints also protect pipelines that serve structures from shear. EBAA Iron Inc., Eastland, TX, 800-433-1716, www.ebaa.com

The new McElroy In-Field Tensile Tester gives contractors and pipeliners the ability to test high-density polyethylene (HDPE) butt fusion joints in the field. A hand-pump system safely tests coupons from pipes sized 2" IPS and larger. The tester also incorporates a template that is attached to the pipe to create a coupon through the use of a drill and reciprocating saw. The coupon is then inserted into the hand-pump tensile test unit that performs a destructive test to qualitatively pass or fail the joint. McElroy Manufacturing, Tulsa, OK, www.mcelroy.com
Polymer mortar pipeHobas centrifugally cast, fiberglass-reinforced, polymer mortar (CCFRPM) potable water pipes and joint gaskets have been tested and comply with NSF- 61 for drinking water components. The pipe is ideal for new construction and rehab. The company also manufactures CCFRPM pipe for sanitary sewers and other corrosive environments. Installation methods include direct bury, sliplining, microtunneling, jacking, tunnel lining and above ground. Non-pressure and pressure classes are manufactured in diameters from 18" - 110". The pipe's high strength-to-weight ratio, smooth surface and flush, push-together joints are ideal for sliplining. Hobas Pipe USA, Houston, TX, 800-856-7473
Pipe productsU.S. Composite Pipe South offers Flowtite® filament wound pressure pipe and Meyer® polymer concrete pipe products. Flowtite filament wound pressure pipe products are produced in diameters from 12" to 156", and depending on application may range in length from 16' to 40'. Flowtite products are proven effective for non-corrosive pipeline systems for direct bury, slipline and penstock projects, for gravity pressure/sewer, raw water, potable water and other industrial applications. Meyer polymer concrete pipe is available in a range of diameters from 18" to 102", in standard 10' sections. This non-corrosive product is ideally suited for micro-tunneling and jacking jobs. Drilling machinesReed Drilling Machines cut or drill through the pipe wall of cast iron, ductile iron, C900 PVC and PE water mains via the corporation stop inserted into the service saddle while under pressure. They use Reed D series drill bits or hole cutters. The DM2100B drilling machine consists of the base unit, which allows the customer to purchase separately individual corporation adapters, drill or hole cutter adapters, along with necessary drills or hole cutters. With shell cutters and necessary adapters, these units can also be used on C900 PVC pipe. Reed Manufacturing, 800-666-3691, www.reedmfgco.com
Pipe couplingsElster Perfection's Hydrosert® 1½" CTS and 2" CTS couplings are non-corrosive and feature a "no stress" design that separates and optimizes both the gripping and sealing areas of the fitting. Once assembled, the fitting is free to rotate on the pipe without affecting the water tight seal. This unique connection method results in leak-proof performance. The fittings are pressure rated to the design pressure of the piping to be connected, up to 200 PSIG. The product line is designed for HDPE water piping systems. Couplings, flange adaptersFord Meter Box has released new Restrained Flange Adapters (RFA) and Restrained Couplings (RC). The RFA is designed to restrain and connect plain-end pipe to a flanged connection while the RC restrains and connects two plain end pipes. Both products use the Ford SO-EZ gasket. The pre-lubricated gasket, in sizes 4"-12", attaches to the compression gland and allows both the RFA and the RC to be installed without disassembly. No gaskets to lubricate, no loose parts to fall in the trench and no complicated assembly. Insert the plain-end of the pipe; tighten the fasteners, twist-off the restraint screws and installation is complete. Ford Meter Box Co., Wabash, IN, 800-326-3487, www.fordmeterbox.com
Utility saw chainPowerGrit® Utility Saw Chain allows the operator to cut ductile iron and other types of pipe from one position, in the ditch. The saw provides improved access to the cut with less excavation. Single-side access reduces excavation time, operator effort and total time to complete the job. Access from one position on a pipe and improved control of the cutting element provides improved ergonomics and operator safety. ICS, Blount Inc., Portland, OR, 503-653-4644, www.powergrit.com
