Mixers

Neptune™ Mixer has announced that its Series HGL mixers are now available in both electric and air driven models. The new mixers are ideal for IBC and tote applications found within the wastewater treatment and chemical industries. Explosion proof models are also available. The company's HGL bulk-container mixers are vertically mounted. These gear reduced mixers can turn larger props at 350 rpm for thorough mixing. Neptune Mixer Co., Lansdale, PA, www.neptune1.com

Flowmeter

Process engineers looking for a reliable solution to measuring liquids, steam or gases in harsh environments will find McCrometer's new Corrosion-Resistant V-Cone® Flow Meter is designed for high accuracy measurement with virtually no maintenance and long life under the most challenging conditions. The meter features built-in flow conditioning. It reduces flow meter straight pipe run requirements by up to 70 percent or more and needs only 0-3 straight pipe diameters upstream and 0-1 downstream to operate effectively. Hydraulic mixing

Siemens Water Technologies has acquired the JetMix hydraulic mixing system from Liquid Dynamics Corp. This proprietary system agitates sludge within the anaerobic digestion process, optimizing digestion and methane production. The latter can be captured and used as energy within a wastewater treatment facility. Compared to similar mixing systems, the JetMix system allows operators to schedule mixing times, which can reduce power usage by 60% to 80% without decreasing gas production or negatively affecting volatile solids reduction. Electrocoagulation

OilTrap Environmental uses electrocoagulation technology to treat wastewater streams. Electrocoagulation uses a very low voltage DC electrical charge to clean the water. It uses a proprietary treatment chamber where the DC current is applied to treat a wide range of differing waste streams containing heavy metals, oil and grease, TSS and more. Not only are heavy metals and other difficult toxins removed from the water, but they are also oxidized and generally will pass a TCLP test. Water quality testing

Hach has developed a customized electrochemistry solution for water quality testing that takes the guesswork out of measurements. The new HQd Benchtop meter enhances productivity by allowing for the simplified switching and setup of multiple probes. Advanced technology also provides simplified data transfer through standard USB ports and two-way communication to both PC and lab automation equipment. Hach's introduction of new ISE probes allows for a wider variety of testing parameters on the HQd system. New parameters include ammonia, ammonium, chloride, fluoride and nitrate. The probes last four times longer than traditional probes because there are no membranes to replace. Hach Co., Loveland, CO, 800-227-4224, www.hach.com/smartprobes

Leaching chambers

Advanced Drainage Systems has added a new product to its Arc line of plastic leaching chambers to meet the needs of septic leach field installers. The new Arc 36LP is specially designed for challenging installations such as high groundwater conditions or other site restrictions. Installing systems requiring shallow burial depths has several advantages, including greater separation from the groundwater, enhanced aerobic bacterial action and improved percolation rates. Pump monitoring

Colfax Corp. has announced the expansion of its SmartSense™ intelligent pump monitoring line to include the new SmartSense Pulse. Measuring only 2.4" long, 1.6" wide and 1.3" deep, the Pulse fits near the bearing on a pump to gauge temperature and vibration. At-a-glance LEDs on the unit indicate pump performance and provide preventive maintenance alerts when needed. The Pulse follows the introduction of the company's initial SmartSense system, whose larger control unit and additional sensors monitor pressure, wear, cavitation and integrity of the pump's mechanical seal - in addition to temperature and vibration. Cast iron sealer

CastSeal™ is a high-performance brush-on methacrylate compound formulated for sealing porosity in cast iron parts that will contain gases under pressure or liquids. Its low dynamic viscosity enables it to wick deeply into pores and seams and between close-fitting ferrous metal surfaces. After the product has cured in the porosity or voids, excess material on the surface is easily rinsed away with water, leaving the surface clean and ready for painting or other operations. It does not alter critical surface dimensions. IMPCO Inc., East Providence, RI, 800-779-2491, www.impco-inc.com

Mercury analyzer

The Aquacounter® HG-400 Mercury Analyzer from JM Science provides greater accuracy and sensitivity through
an improved optical flow path optimization and is perfect for trace levels of mercury detection. The small body of the analyzer is equipped with a 7.5" color touch screen, comes with a built in printer, and expandability to communicate with a flexible sample changer. Four different sizes of sample solutions; 5, 20, 100, and 250mL can be accommodated by adding a few optional components to the instrument.
