Caustic recovery

Via incorporation of AlkaSave® nanofiltration membrane process and SelRO® pH stable membranes, KMS recovers caustic soda used extensively in bottle washing and regeneration of PVPP columns by breweries and beverage manufacturers by removing over 90% of dispersed and soluble organic contaminants and 80% of the carbonates. By online continuous filtration of the spent caustic with this NF membrane process, the manufacturer saves both caustic and heat, reduces effluent volumes and disposal fees, and gains a smooth, trouble-free and steady bottle washing operation.Koch Membrane Systems Inc., Wilmington, MA, 888-677-5624, www.kochmembrane.com

Drinking water monitoring

Analytical Technology (ATi) announces the availability of its innovative Q45WQ Water Quality Panel. This flexible system allows constant on-line monitoring of any remaining disinfectant and up to 6 other parameters in water distribution systems and moveable water treatment facilities. Without the need for expensive chemicals, reagents or buffers, the monitoring system can be used to identify possible contaminants in the water supply, providing reliable measurements of finished water quality. ITT Water & Wastewater launches Griploc™, a new generation of robust mechanical face seals. To facilitate mounting, the new Flygt seals feature one uniform mounting procedure, and each seal comes with a disposable easy-to-use mounting tool. Fewer versions can also reduce spare part inventory. Depending on the specific application, a pump is expected to withstand a range of formidable challenges, and the first line of defense is the face seal. The TurboDrum series from Headworks has been engineered to meet higher levels of screenings required by modern municipal wastewater facilities. Innovative advances in water treatment such as membrane bioreactor (MBR) and moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) processes require higher removal (liquid-solid separation) on the front end. The screens, the TurboDrumIF™, TurboDrumIN™ and TurboStat™ offer a reliable, cost-effective way to achieve these removal challenges. Headworks Inc., Houston, TX, 877-647-6667, www.headworksusa.com

Odor control

The Ecosorb Vapor Phase nebulizer is a self-contained unit that disperses Ecosorb odor control formulas through a distribution pipe via spaced outlets at a rate of 450-to-1,200 cu ft/min, thus creating a “dry” mist that neutralizes odors. It's suitable for wastewater, solid waste and other facilities. OMI Industries Inc., Barrington, IL, 800-662-6367, www.odormanagement.com

Water analysis probes

Hach announced three new fully interchangeable IntelliCAL™ probes for its HQd line of meters. These probes provide portable measurement of ORP, sodium and pH for low-ionic strength samples for analysis in the lab or field. With the new probes, Hach now offers a full suite for electrochemistry testing including BOD, conductivity, DO, ORP, pH and sodium. They interchange fully with a single meter. When switching between parameters, the operator simply plugs the probe into the meter. Hach Company, Loveland, CO, 800-227-4224, www.hach.com/hqdguide

Sludge processing

The Moyno® Annihilator™ is a twin shaft solids reduction unit designed for trouble-free performance in sewage lift stations, head works and sludge processing systems. The system's counter-rotating, hexagonal shaft design coupled with its 5-tooth, hardened steel cutters provide the shredding strength necessary to process from 300 to 4,250 gpm of influent. When properly specified, the units prolong the service life of downstream equipment such as pumps, sensors, monitors and valves. Moyno Inc., Springfield, OH, 877-486-6966, www.moyno.com
