Ballast water management system

Evoqua has remodeled its SeaCURE® ballast water management system to provide optimum high-flow-rate performance from what is now one of the smallest electrochlorination systems on the market. The next generation SeaCURE System is a skid-mounted, plug-and-play ballast water treatment system that is 76% smaller and 85% lighter than earlier generations of the system. It can fit through standard hatchways and can be installed by riding crews, substantially reducing pre-installation work and time required during dry-dock. It can be configured to work as a vessel’s marine growth prevention system, protecting against biofouling in critical machinery and cooling systems.

Clay filtration

A Brite Company has built on its expertise of blending products to grow and expand its business and knowledge of clay filtration products, specifically Bentonite clay products. These formulations have the ability to separate oily contaminants from wastewater, precipitate metallic hydroxides, ionically react with non-precipitated heavy metal cations and encapsulate these contaminants to form non-hazardous waste. Specifically, clay products can be used to treat oily wastewater from processes using metal working fluid applications (including CNC, drilling and cutting); treat mop water; and solve a variety of difficult industrial wastewater treatment issues.

Twin shaft grinder

NETZSCH Pumps North America’s new N.Mac™ Twin Shaft Grinder is designed to protect pumps and processes. The N.Mac is able to fragment a variety of materials and is suitable for wastewater treatment, biogas and biomass plants, food, animal processing, and other waste and industrial applications. Available in both channel and inline (flanged) housing construction, the N.Mac can be installed into effluent channels or upstream from a pump. Featuring cartridge cutting knives for quick and simple replacement and servicing, the N.Mac offers quenched lubricated mechanical seals for dry running capability. The mechanical seal cartridge design enables quick and simple replacement and servicing.

Mixed-bed exchanger for demineralizing water

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS has developed the Lewatit NM 3367 mixed-bed ion exchange resin to demineralize the water used to charge and top up modern hot water heating systems. The custom-designed mixed-bed system not only prevents scale formation in the parts of a heating system that convey water but also provides lasting protection against corrosion. The specific mixing ratio takes into account the fact that anion exchange resins generally have a lower capacity than cation equivalents. The higher proportion of anion exchange resin ensures a long service life and thus highly efficient demineralization with the new mixed bed.

Biogas generator

WesTech has partnered with Cleanergy to bring the Cleanergy GasBox™ Biogas Generator to the United States. The Cleanergy GasBox™ generates electricity and heat from biogas using a Stirling engine. It requires minimal-to-no gas cleaning, which allows for small and mid-size wastewater treatment plants to achieve the power-generating benefits of biogas utilization. The GasBox can also run on biogas with a methane concentration as low as 18%, which alleviates the need at larger plants to burn off this biogas with a natural gas supplement. WesTech is ISO 9001:2008 certified.
