UV disinfection system

ITT’s new Goulds Pumps brand PureBlueTM Ultraviolet Disinfection System offers three models to safely, reliably and economically remove dangerous microorganisms from drinking water. The basic “A” series features LED indicators for power and lamp-out indicators, and an audible alarm. Maximum flow ranges of 4-16 GPMs, with a vessel weight of 5-8 lbs and pipe connection size ranging between 1⁄2” and 3⁄4”. ITT Goulds Pumps, Seneca Falls, 315-568-7123, www.goulds.com

Self-cleaning filters

The new SC line of automatic self-cleaning filters is designed to serve as part of a complete filtration system to remove solids from process fluids and protect high grade components that depend on low-viscosity, water or water-based lubricants. With flow rates up to 33,000 gpm and ANSI flange sizes ranging from 2”-36”, they’re ideal for applications where flow cannot be interrupted and cleanliness levels must be maintained. Case drain monitoring

Hedland’s direct-reading flow meter installed on a pump case drain allows monitoring of efficiency shifts by keeping tabs on any increase in case drain flow and avoiding unexpected pump failure or downtime by prompting early maintenance. Its Variable Area meter has a low pressure drop, typically 1-5 PSIG with an accuracy of 2% of full scale. It can be installed in any position with no special piping or flow straighteners. The EZ-VIEW Variable Area meter is a low-cost polysulfone version with 5% full scale accuracy. Hedland, Racine, WI 53406. 800-433-5263, www.hedland.com

Early warning system

In today’s society, keeping water safe from terrorist contamination attacks and real-world events is necessary. Hach Homeland Security Technologies division’s GuardianBlueTM system, which recently earned the U.S. Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act Designation and Certification, is the first and only procedure - using patented Event Monitor technology - to detect, alert, classify and study contaminants and real-world events affecting water distribution systems. Sludge piping systems

Abresist piping is tougher than the grit, sludge, limestone, incinerator ash or biosolids fertilizer conveyed in wastewater plants. The basalt-lined piping lasts five times longer than ½” cast iron. Pipes, elbows and fittings are custom engineered for each application and can be provided in a variety of end connection arrangements to easily retro-fit into existing systems or install in new ones using flanges, grooved couplings, compression couplings or welded attachment. RFID underground markers

Accurate and efficient location of specific underground facilities and details about them are key features of 3M’s RFID Marker Locating System. Designed for near surface and deeply buried applications, it enhances management of underground facilities for water as well as sewer, natural gas, telecommunications, CATV and electric power utilities. It can pinpoint both conventional passive markers on established utility marker frequencies. The system includes hand-held 3M 3M Track & Trace Solutions, Austin, TX, 800-426-8688 or www.3M.com/dynatel

Turnkey processing systems

Powder Technologies Inc. is offering a new four-color, 20-page brochure on available processing systems for a diverse range of food, cosmetics, detergent, pharmaceutical, chemical, paint and lacquer applications. Designed and built on the basis of reliable, high quality Ystral mixing, dispersing and powder wetting technologies, these systems represent total turn-key solutions from R&D through scale-up to full scale batch and inline processing activities. Membrane system design software

Nitto Denko unit Hydranautics’ new release of IMSDesign 2007 suite is a powerful software created to meet the most demanding needs of the membrane industry professional. Two software programs are provided free of charge: IMSDesign (Integrated Membrane Solutions® design) and ROdataXL. IMSDesign is a comprehensive membrane projection program that allows users to design an RO or UF system with Hydranautics membranes. ROdataXL is an easy-to-use normalization program that tracks performance of any RO system to assure optimum membrane performance. Hydranautics, Oceanside, CA, 800-272-7873, www.membranes.com

Ported disc butterfly valve

With a nominal diameter from 12” to 60”, the unique shape of the disc in the Model BT-AJ ported disc butterfly valve from Kubota Corp. provides an easy pre-fill operation that alleviates water hammer without the added space and cost of a bypass system, achieving savings in both installation and life cycle expenses. In the pipeline pre-fill stage, the flow rate is kept stable regardless of the valve opening, with fluid movement through “flow mouth” directed away from the rubber seat.
