Weld backing tape

Weld backing tape is fixed to the back of welds made on large metal water pipes and pipelines. It ensures the weld underbead is smooth and flat and doesn’t leave lumps or crevices to trap product that allows generation of bacteria to contaminate the weld or pipe. The 25 mm wide glass fiber band is held in place by the adhesive aluminum tape to which the weld backing material is fixed. This glass fiber band allows even inexperienced welders to leave a flat, oxide free, smooth weld underbead without most of the problems that occur when manually welding pipes.
