The Moyno® 2000 HS System is a cost-effective alternative to expensive, high-maintenance piston pumps and open conveyors for dewatered sludge transfer in municipal wastewater treatment. It features an integral hopper with a twin-screw auger feeder and Moyno G4 progressing cavity pump that efficiently handles semi-dry, high solids, dewatered municipal sludge to over 50% solids. The progressing cavity pump can move filter cake further distances with higher volumetric efficiencies. Moyno Inc., Springfield, OH, 877-486-6966, www.moyno.com

Neptune Chemical Pump introduces a new explosion-proof, stainless steel polymer makedown system for preparation, activation and injection of liquid polymers in water and wastewater treatment applications. The system can produce dilute solution (0.1-2.0%) at capacities from 20 to 3,000 GPH of total makedown solution. It uses the patented “Gatlin Mixer” for mechanical mixing and blending for maximum activation regardless of fluctuating flow rate or water pressure. Standard with manual or automatic electronic metering pumps for polymer injection, larger models use motor-driven metering pumps or progressing cavity pumps. Neptune Chemical Pump Co. Inc., Lansdale, PA, 888-637-8863, www.neptune1.com

The thicker the sludge the less treating you have to do later. A key instrument for thickening the sludge in dissolved air floatation tanks, SBRs, inclined plate clarifiers, tanks and clarifiers is a sludge depth meter. The Model 602 Sludge Depth Meter quickly automates your sludge level detection. Analog, digital and relay outputs are available. Chemineers’ Kenics® HEV high-efficiency static mixer provides pressure drops up to 75% lower than other mixers and can handle any turbulent-flow mixing process regardless of line size or shape, with mixer length limited to less than 1½ pipe diameters for space savings. Designed to handle mixing problems common to water and wastewater treatment processes, the unit can easily be configured for non-circular cross sections and open channels, providing efficient additive blending in places not suitable for traditional static mixers.Chemineer Inc., Dayton, OH, 937-454-3200 or www.chemineer.com

DO control

Wastewater treatment facilities that require reliable monitoring of dissolved oxygen (DO) for aeration, activated sludge, and nutrient removal control can optimize those processes with the new sc100 Controller from Hach. With it, process managers can choose to use the company’s new LDO® Dissolved Oxygen (DO) Probe, which uses luminescent technology and eliminates the typical drawbacks of membrane components; a Hach membrane-methodology DO probe; or both, as conditions and requirements dictate.
