Hach Homeland Security Technologies division’s Event Monitor™ Trigger System has been recognized as one of the 100 most technologically significant new products of 2005 by R&D Magazine in that it’s capable of “learning” deviations in water quality in a distribution system. The company’s Karl King and Dan Kroll accepted the award.

Lewis M. Kling took over Aug. 1 as president, CEO and a board member for Flowserve Corp. Kling, 60, formerly COO, succeeded Kevin E. Sheehan, who was appointed to the post on an interim basis in April. Sheehan will remain board chairman.

Pall Corp. SHOWCASES BEVERAGE PRODUCTS

Pall Corp. showcased several beverage industry products at Drinktec 2005 exhibition, including its BeFis System for clarification and stabilization of beer. The system recycles diatomaceous earth (DE) and single-use stabilizing aids, which can result in financial savings of up to 80% a year. This was highlighted by an 18-month case study of Germany’s Altenburg Brewery.

Parkson Corp. MAKES MBR BREAKTHROUGH

Parkson Corp. announced a technological breakthrough with an innovative new design of its membrane bioreactor (MBR) system, the DynaLift™ MBR, which features a unique membrane component outside of the biological reactor. These remote “airlift-assisted tubular membranes,” located at the most convenient and accessible site nearby, make the system highly flexible and cost effective.

Millipore named Jean-Paul Mangeolle president of its Bioprocess Division. He reports directly to Martin Madaus, Millipore chairman, CEO and president. He has held several other senior and mid-level positions in the company, including in its microelectronics and lab water divisions.

Adventus GETS WELL TECHNOLOGY

Adventus Americas Inc., in cooperation with GfS mbH and IEG Technologie mbH, both of Germany, has been chosen as the North American distributor of the German firms’ patented Groundwater Circulation Well (GCW) technologies. AAI’s exclusive international territory also includes the rapidly growing market in Israel, and they have retained non-exclusive rights to all other international markets.

Earth Canada WINS NORTH SEA BID

Montreal’s Earth (Canada) Corp. sold a TORR system and a supply contract for RPA cartridges to Wood Group, a large engineering, procurement & construction firm, that provides a range of offshore services to Amerada Hess, a major oil and gas producer and operator. The system will be installed on the Triton Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel in the North Sea, for polishing treatment of produced water, as part of its overall environmental management and regulatory compliance strategy.

INFILCO DEGREMONT LISCENSES HYDROXYL TECHNOLOGY

Infilco Degremont Inc. has become the exclusive licensee of Hydroxyl’s iFAS™ (integrated fixed film activated sludge) and iMBR™ (integrated moving bed bioreactors) systems for design, supply and installation in U.S. plants over 0.5 mgd for advanced biological treatment of wastewater. Both processes employ unique Hydroxyl iPAC™ media, which are fluidized biomass carriers that increase capacity, enhance treatment processes via BOD and COD reduction, and improve removal of ammonia and nitrogen -- without physical plant expansion.

EcovatioN, Biorem SIGN ODOR CONTROL AGREEMENT

Victor, NY’s Ecovation Inc. and Biorem Inc., of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, entered into an exclusive license agreement to use Biorem’s biofilter odor control technology in the food & beverage markets in the United States and Mexico. Under the terms of the license agreement, Biorem will receive royalties, which are payable over the five year term of the agreement, plus continuing revenues generated from the sale of Biosorbens™ filter media used in the licensed applications.

Hirschmann Automation and Control Inc. hosted local government and business officials at a ribbon cutting ceremony to inaugurate its Chambersburg, Pa., facility and celebrate its U.S. reorganization. GE Fanuc WELCOMES DISTRIBUTORS

GE Fanuc Automation has announced that CH2M Hill IDC and Flexware Innovation have joined its Premier Solution Provider program. This designation is offered to industry-leading systems integrators who’ve proven capabilities with GE Fanuc products and solutions and meet technical, operational and quality evaluations. The company also named AIC, of Reno, Nev., an authorized distributor.

Ecoloclean BUYS Aquatronics

Ecoloclean Industries Inc. bought Aquatronics Industries, a Riverside, R.I., commercial/industrial water and wastewater treatment specialist that was instrumental in assisting Ecoloclean’s World Environmental Technologies unit in the recent purification of drinking water provided for the city of Biloxi, Miss., following Hurricane Katrina.

AECOM APPOINTS NEW CEO

Global design and management company, AECOM, has appointed John M. Dionisio, 57, as CEO and president, positions previously held by Richard G. Newman, 70, and Raymond A. Holdsworth, 62, respectively. Newman will remain as chairman, and Holdsworth has been named vice chairman of corporate development. Jim Royer, 59, was appointed COO, succeeding Dionisio in that role.

Applied LICENSES MBFR PROCESS

After two years of research focused on developing the innovative hollow fiber membrane biofilm reactor (“MBfR”) technology for commercial water treatment applications, Applied Process Technology Inc. has licensed the MBfR from Northwestern University and now has exclusive, worldwide rights to market it for water treatment applications.

TYCO UNIT PICKS ROMANO

Earth Tech, a Tyco International business unit and global provider of consulting, engineering, construction and operation and maintenance services, has named Michael Romano as business development director for its Industrial Asset Management Division in the U.S. Gulf Coast region. Romano will be developing and managing major projects requiring ultrapure water treatment technology, wastewater treatment technologies and outsourcing services for refineries, petrochemical facilities and power plants throughout the South, including Texas and Louisiana.

JMAR COMPLETES MEXICAN TESTS

JMAR Technologies Inc. successfully completed the first test phase of a three-phase program at Kimpen S.A. de C.V., Mexico’s leading beverage development and manufacturing company. Kimpen reiterated that, based on successful in-lab testing of BioSentry™, the company intends to purchase two production units and initiate operational testing in two factories.

ENGELHARD ACQUIRES ALMATIS UNIT

Engelhard Corp. acquired U.S.-based Almatis AC Inc., the adsorbents and catalyst business of Almatis and a major developer and producer of alumina-based treatment products for the natural gas, petrochemical, compressed air and hydrogen peroxide markets.

Driesse heads itt fluid technology

Henry J. Driesse, president of ITT’s defense business since 2000, succeeds Richard L. Ayers as president of ITT fluid technology group, while Steven S. Gaffney, president of Defense Systems Division, replaces Driesse.

Eaton acquisition done

Easton Corp. completed purchase of the industrial filtration business of Hayward industries, a global leader in liquid, high-purity bag filtration systems with sales of about $100 million in the prior 12 months and 530 employees.

BAYER SELLS SAMPLER UNIT

Gustafson Automatic Samplers was purchased from Bayer CropScience by Sentry Equipment Corp. in Oconomowoc, Wis. With the 2003 acquisition of Bristol Equipment Co. and the new acquisition of Gustafson, Sentry now has one of the most comprehensive lines of products for process sampling applications.

Solucorp Industries signs with Ensco Caribe

Solucorp Industries Ltd. has signed an agreement with Ensco Caribe Inc., part of the Ochoa Group - a large remediation company in Puerto Rico that specializes in hazardous waste remediation throughout the Caribbean. Ensco will have the sole rights to market, use and sell Solucorp’s patented MBS® technology throughout the island of Puerto Rico and the rest of the Caribbean.
