Hach Homeland Security Technologies division’s Event Monitor Trigger System has been recognized as one of the 100 most technologically significant new products of 2005 by R&D Magazine in that it’s capable of “learning” deviations in water quality in a distribution system. Pall Corp. showcased several beverage industry products at Drinktec 2005 exhibition, including its BeFis System for clarification and stabilization of beer. The system recycles diatomaceous earth (DE) and single-use stabilizing aids, which can result in financial savings of up to 80% a year. This was highlighted by an 18-month case study of Germany’s Altenburg Brewery.

Parkson Corp. announced a technological breakthrough with an innovative new design of its membrane bioreactor (MBR) system, the DynaLift MBR, which features a unique membrane component outside of the biological reactor. These remote “airlift-assisted tubular membranes,” located at the most convenient and accessible site nearby, make the system highly flexible and cost effective.

Earth Canada WINS NORTH SEA BID
Montreal’s Earth (Canada) Corp. sold a TORR system and a supply contract for RPA cartridges to Wood Group, a large engineering, procurement & construction firm, that provides a range of offshore services to Amerada Hess, a major oil and gas producer and operator. The system will be installed on the Triton Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel in the North Sea, for polishing treatment of produced water, as part of its overall environmental management and regulatory compliance strategy.

INFILCO DEGREMONT LISCENSES HYDROXYL TECHNOLOGY
Infilco Degremont Inc. has become the exclusive licensee of Hydroxyl’s iFAS (integrated fixed film activated sludge) and iMBR (integrated moving bed bioreactors) systems for design, supply and installation in U.S. plants over 0.5 mgd for advanced biological treatment of wastewater. Both processes employ unique Hydroxyl iPAC media, which are fluidized biomass carriers that increase capacity, enhance treatment processes via BOD and COD reduction, and improve removal of ammonia and nitrogen -- without physical plant expansion.
EcovatioN, Biorem SIGN ODOR CONTROL AGREEMENT
Victor, NY’s Ecovation Inc. and Biorem Inc., of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, entered into an exclusive license agreement to use Biorem’s biofilter odor control technology in the food & beverage markets in the United States and Mexico. Under the terms of the license agreement, Biorem will receive royalties, which are payable over the five year term of the agreement, plus continuing revenues generated from the sale of Biosorbens filter media used in the licensed applications.

AECOM APPOINTS NEW CEO
Global design and management company, AECOM, has appointed John M. Dionisio, 57, as CEO and president, positions previously held by Richard G. Newman, 70, and Raymond A. Holdsworth, 62, respectively. Newman will remain as chairman, and Holdsworth has been named vice chairman of corporate development. Jim Royer, 59, was appointed COO, succeeding Dionisio in that role.
