Aeration system

Compared to standard aeration technologies, Landia's AirJet system can aerate thicker sludge than some other systems. It offers simplified upkeep and does not require the tank to be drained for diffuser maintenance. Available in motor sizes from 3 kW to 18.5 kW and in submerged, vertical or horizontal versions, the system can be dry-installed outside the tank or floating under pontoons in a lagoon.

Solids separation

Salsnes Filter manufactures solids separation technologies for municipal and industrial applications, featured with both enclosed and open modular systems, unlimited design flow capacity and the option to install indoors or outdoors. The company's SFK systems are open for concrete channel installation and can be simply installed into existing concrete chambers. Likewise, SF systems are free-standing and enclosed, requiring only a simple concrete slab for installation. These units can be easily retrofitted into an existing plant or integrated into new construction and combine solids separation, sludge thickening and dewatering.

Twin shaft grinders

Franklin Miller's Taskmaster TM8500 series inline grinders employ a powerful twin-shaft mechanism to quickly reduce sewage and sludge solids to fine particles in pipeline systems. These processors feature a drop-in housing, allowing for removal of the unit's entire working components for maintenance. The grinders employ one-piece cutter cartridges that replace banks of weak individual cutters and spacers. The result is a durable grinder with a resistance to cutter and spacer cracking. This design dramatically increases unit strength, reduces maintenance time and eliminates the need for cutter stack retightening.

Sludge sampler

The AMS "valved core tip" fills the sampler without losing the sample upon retrieval. The sampler uses a disposable plastic soil catcher that fits on the end of a 2" x 12" plastic liner. The core tip allows the plastic soil core catcher and liner to fit snuggly over the lip of the core tip. Once the soil core catacher and liner are placed on the core tip, they are loaded into a standard multi-stage base section and screwed together.

Sludge mixer

The MBV lime and sludge mixer features orientable paddle blades that efficiently mix lime and dewatered sludge coming from dehydration systems. The mixer can be combined with sludge conveyors, sludge pumps and lime feed systems for an effective sludge stabilization process (Class B). The stainless steel units can mix 0.5 to 15 tons/hr of dewatered sludge and can be trailer-mounted for remote treatment areas.

Sludge mixers

GridBee® GF Series electric mixers from Medora Corporation can each displace 30 to 50 horsepower of surface aerator mixing (run-time) in municipal and industrial wastewater applications, including activated sludge system basins, lagoon systems and water reuse ponds. With the GF Series performing the mixing, the aeration system can be dialed back to just provide the needed DO.

Sludge thickening

Pier-supported thickeners from Kusters are designed for all applications involving sludge thickening. Flow enters through the center pier then discharges through outlet ports located at the top of the center column into either an energy dissipating inlet (EDI) or feedwell, which minimizes density currents and enhances settling. Solids are collected at the bottom of the basin, thickened, and then raked to a collection sump located in the tank floor. The clarified effluent exits over the weir plates and out of the basin.

Filter presses

Toro Equipment's Draco filter presses are used to separate solids from liquids in a wide range of applications. The sludge is pumped into a series of filter chambers fitted with a permeable filter cloth on both sides. While the liquid is forced out of the sides, the filter cloths retain the solid components, leaving a filter cake deposited inside the chambers. As the chambers become full of solids, the pressure rises, and it becomes progressively more difficult to continue pumping in more of the sludge.

Sludge tanks

Featuring six-foot-high walls, modular, heavy-duty sludge tanks from ModuTank are available in various modular capacities from 50,000 to 2,000,000 gallons and higher. They are designed for rapid bolt-together assembly from galvanized panels and are anchored with support frames on concrete aprons or on free-standing, steel-footing plates. No special construction skills are required for assembly. A full range of membrane liners assures compatibility with virtually all qualities of sludge and wastewater. Optional fittings for piping as well as floating covers can be specified.

Dewatering system

Ashbrook Simon-Hartley's Klampress dewatering technology comes in seven basic configurations, with each type of sludge dewatered to optimum dryness. The Klampress Type Z is suited for dewatering applications that benefit from vertical roller stacking. It elevates operator "ease-of-use" for tower-type presses to the Klampress standard and introduces energy savings and long-term durability to the tower option. The new press also offers more user- selected options than any other tower-type press, which allows owners to select just the specific features appropriate to their application.

Sludge reduction

Bio Energizer® from Probiotic Solutions® is a specialized Micro Carbon Complex that is used in municipal and industrial systems to reduce sludge, odor, BOD/COD, FOG, and costs in wastewater treatment plants and lagoons. The product biochemically oxidizes sludge in wastewater lagoons while remaining online and continuing to work, further reducing the lagoon sludge blanket without the need for draining, drying, dredging, handling, or hauling. When used in activated sludge plants, it can increase volatile solids destruction and improve decant volume and settleability for greater digester and reactor capacity, giving operators more capacity to waste solids.
