Injector pumps
Chem-Feed® C-1100E Injectors meter precise amounts of fluid. The precision molded, heavy duty cartridge head provides enhanced priming, and resists airlocks caused by solids forming chemicals like chlorine. The injectors can receive 4-20 mA, 0-10 vDC and pulsed signal inputs. Signal inputs are used to automatically adjust the output of the injector. The pumps offer pressure ratings to 150 psi and outputs to 360 gpd. A new variable speed motor option ensures uninterrupted output, no On/Off cycle and no "downtime."

Pump seals
EMU pumps from USFilter's Davis Products feature a new mechanical seal system that minimizes the risk of seal face contamination. Both the upper and lower sets of mechanical seals are inside a precision-engineered Enclosed Block Seal (EBS). Servicing is simplified because each set of seals are "factory set" with correct spring pressure, requiring no field modifications or adjustments. All that's required to replace the EBS is to remove the heat exchanger, replace the EBS, and re-install the heat exchanger. No special spring force tools or other technical field assembly are required to guarantee correct positioning and location within the pump. Springs and housing are all 316 stainless steel.

Flow conditioner
Process engineers experiencing problems with short runs of piping that cause cavitation and premature failure of pumps and valves will find that the new Vorel 90° Elbow Flow Conditioner isolates flow disturbances, reduces swirl and develops a symmetrical, repeatable flow profile with minimal pressure loss at the inlet to their process equipment. The flow conditioner replaces the last pipe elbow upstream of the pump or valve. It was developed using the same tab-type flow conditioning technology as the straight run Vortab Flow Conditioners, which have been laboratory proven and successfully installed in hundreds of plants worldwide.

Open hopper pump
seepex has developed a new type of open hopper pump to transport extremely viscous products and dewatered sludge cake. The pump can transport materials up to three million cPs and wastewater sludge with over 50% solids. The new design uses a feed auger that operates separately from the pump rotor shaft. This allows the auger to operate concentrically and to be driven at a speed that is independent from the pump speed. The design separates the fluid shearing action from the pumping rate. It also reduces bridging inside the pump because the auger cleans the casing walls.

Metering pumps
LMI has released new literature on its motor-driven metering pumps, which are designed for applications where required outputs are higher than an electronic pump can render. The brochure explains the benefits of its Series M pumps, which can be used for dosing of acids, chlorinated products, bases, coagulants and other chemicals. They also handle difficult to dispense fluids such as polymers and slurries. The pumps don't require any fluid on the diaphragm's non-process side, so there's no chance of contaminating the process fluid.

Metering pumps
The Digital EZB Series metering pumps from Walchem are designed to work with a variety of chemicals and metering applications. These solenoid-driven diaphragm pumps have a maximum capacity of 3.2 gph and a maximum pressure of 150 psi. The pumps combine a 360:1 turndown ratio with high stroking speed and a fixed stroke length design. They pump at 360 strokes per minute. This high speed reduces chemical slug feeding found in slower metering pumps. The digital controller has three pushbuttons for speed adjustment and also provides an IP65 solution for harsh environments. For installations with restricted access, the digital controller can be mounted remote from the pump.

Screw pump
The patented JS Twin Screw Pump from Atlas-Stord features a rugged yet simple design which consists of two intermeshed, counter-rotating screws that provide a continuous and non-pulsating flow of sludge. As the screws rotate, the intermeshed flights prevent the product from co-rotating and generate a plugged flow condition, allowing the pump to produce the high discharge pressure required in many sludge-pumping applications. External bearings and an integral timing gear support the ends of the rotating screws, preventing metal-to-metal contact between the screws and pumping chamber liner and enabling virtually unlimited dry-running without wear or overheating.

Positive displacement pump
Viking Pump has released the AccuLobe™ Pump, a compact positive displacement pump for use in sanitary applications. The pump features a five lobe rotor design with a one-piece rotorcase/gearcase. The five lobe rotors minimize pulsation, while the precise alignment of the rotorcase/gearcase helps maximize repeatability. The pumps are ideal for pumping shear-sensitive or viscous fluids, and for applications where reproducible flow is necessary. Front-loading seals allow for simple maintenance. The pump is self-draining, yet maintains volumetric efficiency through chamfered cusps around the ports.
