GROVELAND, Calif. — Animals have been evacuated from a nearby ranch and local casinos remain empty as firefighters continue to battle a wildfire north of Yosemite National Park, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.
Park Spokesman Tom Medena said the fire is getting closer to the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, which is the source of San Francisco’s drinking water, stated the article.
Officials with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission said that even though ash is falling on the reservoir and a thick haze of smoke is limiting visibility around the reservoir, the water pipe to the city 150 miles away is still good, noted the article.
