OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Red worms have been found in the drinking water supply of a northeast Oklahoma town, according to NBC News.
Residents in the area have been asked not to drink the tap water after red worms were found in the filtering system, noted the article.
Worms ranging in size from an inch to half-inch were spotted in the water supply in Colcord, Okla., a town 80 miles east of Tulsa, Okla.
City councilman Terry Wood said the water was turned back on after workers cleaned and re-cleaned the water tower, finding no more worms, stated the article.
"We are still looking into this problem. I mean we need to get to the bottom of it and we will continue to investigate and do pretty much what we need to do to find out what happened here," Wood said.
