Pennsylvania American Water opens Facebook contest

HERSHEY, Pa. — Facebook users can vote for the winner of the “Community Investment Challenge” until Dec. 8.

HERSHEY, Pa. — Voting is now open for Pennsylvania American Water's "Community Investment Challenge" Facebook contest that lets users grant awards to support environmental projects and community improvement programs, according to a press release.

Seventeen organizations submitted entries for projects scheduled to take place in the Pennsylvania American Water service area in 2014, the release noted.

The contestants are split into four categories: Water and the Environment, Water and Healthy Living, Environmental Education and Community Sustainability, the release reported.

According to the release, the top three projects will receive awards of $1,000 for first place, $700 for second place and $300 for third place.

The deadline for voting is Dec. 8 and awards will be announced in early December, reported the release.
