Microvi Biotechnologies taps Michael Melnick for chief scientific officer

HAYWARD, Calif. — Melnick comes to Microvi from a position as a venture partner at CMEA Capital.

HAYWARD, Calif. — Microvi Biotechnologies has announced that Dr. Michael Melnick will be joining the company as chief scientific officer, according to a press release.

“Michael’s broad experience and insight is a perfect addition to our talented team,” said Dr. Fatemeh Shirazi, CEO of Microvi. “We are excited to welcome him to the company as we take the next step in commercializing our new technologies.”

Melnick comes to Microvi from a position as a venture partner at CMEA Capital, and has experience as both an investor and executive at companies in the energy, chemicals and drug discovery industries, the release reported.

“I’m very excited to build upon Microvi’s biocatalyst technology platform. The value proposition in industrial biotech is compelling, as it is in water treatment, and the science, which brings together microbial ecology and materials science, is cutting edge,” said Melnick.
