LAKEWOOD, Calif. — The Water Replenishment District of Southern California (WRD) has issued a statement in support of Governor Edmund G. Brown's recent declaration of a state of emergency due to continued drought conditions, according to a press release.
"The Water Replenishment District of Southern California strongly supports Governor Brown's recent drought emergency declaration, and we encourage all of the four million residents that rely on our groundwater resources to redouble their conservation efforts. Water is a terrible thing to waste at any time, but that is especially true during one of the worst droughts in history," said WRD Board President Rob Katherman.
"WRD will continue to maximize locally produced and stored groundwater supplies in order to minimize the need to purchase imported water from the Colorado River and the Northern California Delta, as this drought will likely increase costs and demand for imported water resources," said Katherman.
