CH2M HILL’s Ford and Parker win Black Engineer of the Year Awards

DENVER — Russell Ford was presented with the Pioneer Award and Jada Parker with the Most Promising Engineer Award.

DENVER — CH2M HILL has announced that the Water Market’s Global Service Leader for Drinking Water Infrastructure Dr. Russell Ford and Transportation Market’s Ports & Maritime Structural Engineer Jada Parker were award recipients at the 2014 Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) STEM Conference on Feb. 7, according to a press release.

The BEYA STEM Conference and awards were established nearly three decades ago to promote career opportunities in engineering, science and technology to historically underrepresented groups in STEM fields through professional and career development, educational programs, awards programs and career placement opportunities, noted the release.

Ford, who received the Pioneer Award, has more than 27 years of experience developing, evaluating and designing treatment processes to remove contaminants from drinking water and is active in the American Water Works Association and the Water Science and Research Division, reported the release.

Global Water Market President Greg McIntyre commented, “Russell is a leader among our water professionals and embraces the meaning of innovation — never backing down from a challenge. His dedication to technology and the engineering profession, as well as his passion and commitment, are unparalleled.”

Parker, named the year's Most Promising Engineer, has four years of experience in civil and structural engineering and has been involved in the analysis and design of various marine structures, such as pile supported piers, breasting dolphins and breakwaters as well as the design of bollards, mooring hooks and fenders, continued the release.

Transportation Market President Terry Ruhl commented, “Jada is an enthusiastic and contributing team member to our transportation business. She is a great example of a dedicated, talented young engineer with a promising career ahead of her.”
