NGWA releases aquifer recharge information brief

WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The tool will provide support for managed aquifer recharge.

WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The National Ground Water Association has released "Managed Aquifer Recharge: A Water Supply Management Tool Information Brief," according to a press release.

As water supply shortages continue to occur, managed aquifer recharge (MAR) will become an increasingly important tool for mitigating the economic, environmental and public health impacts of these shortages, noted the release.

With MAR projects occurring in every region of the country, the brief provides a technically and scientifically sound explanation of MAR, as well as, an overview of how MAR projects are being used, the release reported.

The document is being made available to groundwater professionals for use in educating the public and policymakers about groundwater and the role of managed aquifer recharge projects, continued the release, to be used specifically during the upcoming NGWA Congressional Drive-in, an event where groundwater professionals meet their Congressional members in the state.

According to the release, NGWA offers additional information briefs — short narratives, typically not more than six pages in length, that provide a researched objective, and technically and scientifically sound explanation of a subject of current or emerging interest or importance to both internal and external stakeholders.
