NEW DELHI — Royal HaskoningDHV and VA TECH WABAG signed a 10-year cooperation agreement to deliver Nereda® wastewater treatment technology to India and Switzerland, according to a press release.
Wastewater management was given high priority in the recently adopted India National Water Policy, stated the release.
With a multibillion dollar government program, industrial and municipal wastewater treatment is expected to be an exciting area for future growth in India, continued the release.
The release reported that Nereda wastewater treatment technology uses the unique features of aerobic granular biomass, and Nereda plants are up to four times smaller than traditional installations, consume only half the energy and require no chemicals during the treatment process.
The agreement was signed on Nov. 5 by Rajiv Mittal, managing director and group CEO WABAG, Arnold Gmuender, COO WABAG Wassertechnik in Switzerland and René Noppeney, Royal HaskoningDHV's global director for Water Products & Innovation, noted the release.
“I am delighted that WABAG has been chosen by Royal HaskoningDHV for technology cooperation to introduce this new technology in India and Switzerland where WABAG already enjoys market and technology leadership,” said Mittal. “To start with, this new technology will address the India and Swiss markets and over time, the geographical scope will be enlarged.”
