DENVER — The Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSD) won the Uptime Magazine Best Maintenance Reliability Award as the 2014 Best Asset Condition Management Program.

DENVER — The Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSD), for the second consecutive year, received the Uptime Magazine Best Maintenance Reliability Award as the 2014 Best Asset Condition Management Program, according to a press release.

CH2M HILL, a global, full-service consulting, design, construction and operations firm, has worked with the MSD for over eight years, helping the district develop and implement an asset management program and other best practices, stated the release.

The release reported that CH2M HILL has helped the MSD Wastewater Treatment Division’s maintenance group build a program including advanced planning and scheduling, reliability engineering and predictive maintenance, provided through a team-based approach.

MSD has been able to move towards achieving its goal to create a sustainable, low-cost, in-house asset condition monitoring (ACM) program, and it is improving reliability and maintenance practices to lower asset lifecycle costs and extend the life expectancy of new and existing assets through application of a phased living maintenance program, which started with CH2M HILL in 2012, noted the release.

“In just two years we have moved from using external asset condition monitoring services to an internal ACM program that is delivering results,” said MSD Director Tony Parrott. “Our maintenance staff has stepped up, and with CH2M HILL’s help, is identifying new decision support and communication software tools as well as providing best practices in development and training.”
