ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) released a new video, “Bottled Water – small water use, big health benefits,” available on IBWA’s YouTube channel, BottledWaterMatters, according to a press release.
The IBWA video compares bottled water’s water use footprint compared to other industries and beverages, stated the release.
Citing data from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the video highlights how bottled water uses less than 0.004 percent of all the water in the U.S., continued the release.
The release reported that bottled water uses the least amount of water to produce one liter of product, including the liter consumed, compared to other packaged beverages.
The IBWA video also examines the ongoing shift in consumption from soft drinks to bottled water, which began in 2000, noted the release.
“The video shows sales volumes for soft drinks steadily declining, while bottled water grows,” said IBWA Vice President of Communications Chris Hogan. “Overall beverage consumption is relatively flat, so it’s clear to see that people are choosing bottled water rather than soft drinks, and not necessarily instead of tap water.”
