Partnership for Safe Water awards Philipsburg Water Treatment Plant

PHILIPSBURG, Pa. — Pennsylvania American Water’s Philipsburg Water Treatment Plant hosted a recognition ceremony for plant personnel to receive the Phase IV “Presidents Award” from the “Partnership for Safe Water,” according to a press release.

The Partnership for Safe Water program is a volunteer initiative developed by the American Water Works Association (AWWA), EPA and other organizations representing water suppliers aiming to supply water quality exceeding regulatory standards, stated the release.

The Pennsylvania America Water facility, serving around 7,700 customers in Centre and Clearfield counties, has participated in the Partnership for Safe Water program since 1996, continued the release.

The release reported that the Philipsburg Water Treatment Plant is the fourth plant in Pennsylvania to receive the Presidents Award, and only 12 treatment facilities in the U.S. have received the award.

Members of the Partnership for Safe Water participate in a four-phase self-assessment and peer review process, and the Phase IV's set of goals are the highest level of performance that can be achieved in the program, noted the release.
