Pennsylvania American Water now accepting applications for scholarship program

HERSHEY, Pa. — Pennsylvania American Water will award 10 students selected through the 2015 Stream of Learning Scholarship Program application process with $2,000 each.

HERSHEY, Pa. — Applications are now being accepted for Pennsylvania American Water’s 2015 Stream of Learning Scholarship Program to provide financial assistance to high school seniors interested in pursuing careers in the wastewater and water industry, according to a press release.

The program supports outstanding students living within the service territories of Pennsylvania American Water who are planning to study in particular fields, from engineering to environmental science, critical to the water and wastewater industry, stated the release.

The release reported that 10 students selected through the application process will each receive $2,000 in scholarships awarded by Pennsylvania American Water, and the winners will be selected by a panel of judges and will receive their scholarships in May.

Those interested in applying for the program must plan to attend a two- or four-year college or technical school, currently live in one of Pennsylvania American Water’s service areas (students can attend college outside of the service areas) and plan to study biology, chemistry, environmental science or engineering, noted the release.

“Now in its sixth year, our Stream of Learning Scholarship Program is helping attract extremely bright, dedicated students who have much to offer for our industry’s future,” said Pennsylvania American Water President Kathy L. Pape. “We believe it’s important to inspire and support talented young people who share our commitment to maintaining public health, protecting the environment and promoting economic development.”

Applications must be submitted, or postmarked, by March 16, 2015, added the release.
