WASHINGTON — The U.S. Water Alliance announced G. Tracy Mehan III has joined the nonprofit as interim president, according to a press release.
For this position, Mehan replaces Ben Grumbles, who served as president from 2010 to 2015, when he accepted the secretary of the environment designation from Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, stated the release.
Prior to his new role as the U.S. Water Alliance’s interim president, reported the release, Mehan has worked in various roles to promote and implement environmental sustainability as well as watershed protection and conservation.
He acted as principal with the Cadmus Group Inc., an environmental consulting firm, from 2004 to 2014, and from 2001 to 2003 he served as assistant administrator for water at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), continued the release.
With the EPA, Mehan directed both the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act programs including permitting, wetlands regulation, infrastructure finance, standards and watershed management, and he developed “new policies and guidance on watershed-based permitting and water quality trading,” noted the release.
