Jacobi Carbons Group’s Sri Lanka-based facility receives WQA certification

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Jacobi Carbons Group, founded in 1916, is a manufacturer of activated carbon products for use in air, water and process purification applications.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Jacobi Carbons Group announced its production facility located in Nattandiya, Sri Lanka, has received certification from the Water Quality Association (WQA) under WQA/ASPE/ANSI Standard S-802: Product Sustainability for Activated Carbon, according to a press release.

WQA developed a voluntary sustainability certification program for water filtration products in response to “increasing demand within the water treatment industry for an independent standard for environmental and sustainability claims,” stated the release.

The release reported that WQA certification of activated carbon (AC) products is achieved with three steps: The AC products must first be certified to the appropriate safety/performance standard as a prerequisite; the manufacturer is certified to WQA S-801; and the carbon products are then certified to WQA/ASPE/ANSI S-802.

Following these steps, more than 25 AC products produced at Jacobi’s Sri Lanka-based facility will now carry a WQA Certification Symbol on their packaging, noted the release.

“We are proud to achieve this certification, which reinforces our organization’s commitment to sustainability,” said Jacobi Carbons Ceo Anders Skeini.
