WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The National Ground Water Association (NGWA) sustains WellOwner.org to help household well owners maintain their private systems, according to a press release.
Homeowners are responsible for the upkeep of these systems, noted the release, yet many do not know how to do it properly. The association encourages owners to educate themselves on well maintenance and to use professionals to conduct inspections and service.
Owners can find the guidelines under the “maintenance” tab on the website, stated the release.
“With this new guidance, household well owners can do their part to observe and possibly detect maintenance issues that need attention,” NGWA Public Awareness Director Cliff Treyens said in the release. “Catching a small problem early can prevent a bigger, more costly problem later. Not only is this a matter of cost and convenience, good maintenance can protect the quality of your drinking water and your family’s health.”
