ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Water Environment Federation recently launched a national municipal stormwater and green infrastructure awards program, according to a press release.
The awards were developed in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), noted the release. "It will recognize high-performing regulated Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4s)."
"Many of WEF’s utility members, along with a cadre of stormwater professionals nationwide, are leading the way in effectively addressing stormwater and wet weather issues," said WEF Executive Director Eileen O’Neill in the release.
"To remain on top of this challenge, they need opportunities to exchange best practices and learn about cutting-edge approaches for treatment, management and financing," O’Neill added in the release. "With EPA’s support, WEF is able to provide such an opportunity that not only recognizes the success of stormwater professionals but encourages the new ideas, programs and leadership that is needed for tackling the growing demands that stormwater is placing on our communities."
Entries will be reviewed by a steering committee before a winner is selected, reported the release. Winners will be announced at the 2015 Stormwater Congress in September.
Phase II applicants must submit their applications by midnight EST on Aug. 19, while the Phase I deadline is midnight EST on Aug. 26, stated the release.
