Veolia technology honored for pilot test

CARY, N.C. — The Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County (LACSD) earned several awards for Kruger’s ANITA Mox Process Pilot Test, according to a press release.

LACSD received the 2015 Honor Award from the American Academy of Environmental Engineers & Scientists, noted the release. It also earned the 2014 Engineering research Achievement of the Year award from the Los Angeles Basin Section of the California Water Environment Association.

Kruger partnered with LACSD to compare the effectiveness of two configurations of Kruger’s moving-bed biofilm reactor and the integrated fixed-film activated sludge application, shared the release.

Kruger Inc. is a business unit of Veolia, stated the release. Its technology was recognized for making "improvements in the efficiency of nitrogen removal operations at the LACSD facilities."

The release reported the system reduces chemical consumption, biomass production and aeration as well as energy necessary for nitrogen removal.
