The late Richard Haderer was co-founder of Western Hydro Inc., where he worked for 38 years.

WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Jan. 6, 2016 — The National Ground Water Research and Educational Foundation (NGWREF) will offer a new scholarship in honor of the late Richard Haderer thanks to a donation by Haderer’s brother, Paul Haderer, according to a press release.

The brothers founded Western Hydro Inc. in Hayward, California, noted the release. Richard worked with the company for 38 years as president and chief financial officer. He also served on the National Ground Water Association’s (NGWA) Suppliers Division Board for 12 years, and later as president.

"I had the honor of working with Rich when he served the association in leadership roles," said Kevin McCray, CAE, executive of NGWREF and its parent organization, NGWA. "A scholarship named for him is fitting recognition and any young person who receives an award in his name will learn and grow from Rich’s life, leadership and generosity."

Fifteen students entering fields that serve, support or promote groundwater professions received $25,000 from the scholarship fund in 2015, stated the release.

A named scholarship can be established within NGWREF’s Len Assante Scholarship Fund with a minimum $10,000 gift, reported the release.

Corporations and individuals may make tax-deductible charitable donations to honor Richard Haderer by sending gifts to NGWREF, shared the release.
