More Info on Sappi North America Inc.

Our roots can be traced back as far as 1854 to the S D Warren Company, which owned and operated the Westbrook Mill and two other US paper mills, up until its acquisition by Sappi Limited in 1994. Nearly a decade later, we acquired the Cloquet Mill adding it to the Sappi family in 2002. Today, headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, with three mills and over 2,100 employees, we continue that legacy of innovation and quality as a preeminent producer of printing and packaging papersrelease paper and dissolving pulp.

Our graphic papers, with highly recognized brand names such as McCoy, Opus, Somerset and Flo, are used in premium magazine, catalogs, books and high-end print advertising. Our packaging and speciality products, such as LusterPrint and LusterCote, represent an important asset in the food packaging and labeling industries. We are also the world's leading supplier of release paper for the automotive, fashion and engineered films industries, including the globally recognized Ultracast brands. Sappi currently meets half of the world's demand for release paper, which provides the surface aesthetics for synthetic fabrics used in footwear, clothing, upholstery and accessories, as well as the textures for decorative laminates found in kitchens, baths, flooring and surfaces. In addition, we are a leading global producer of dissolving pulp, a versatile raw material for a wide range of products including textile fibers and household products.

A commitment to sustainability permeates our culture at Sappi. Sappi continues to invest in projects to reduce solid waste, wastewater and air emission, and improve water and energy utilization. Each of our mills implements internationally-recognized environmental management systems to ensure that current and planned operations and expansions meet all legislative requirements. We are also committed to improving the communities where our employees live and work. Through corporate sponsorships that support education and science, we firmly believe in investing both money and time in the health and wellbeing of our communities.

Sappi North America is a subsidiary of Sappi Limited (JSE), a global company headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, with over 12,700 employees and manufacturing operations on three continents in seven countries and customers in more than 100 countries.
