ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) has issued a statement reminding consumers that maintaining proper hydration in the winter months is important, according to a press release.

Many people tend not to notice that they are dehydrated during the winter because they are not sweating as much, the release noted.

“But what we don’t necessarily realize is that cold winter air is much drier than humid summer air. This impacts the amount of moisture our bodies naturally absorb from the environment — both outside and inside heated buildings, which also have much drier air,” says Chris Hogan, IBWA vice president of communications. “Even though you are not perspiring as much, you can still become dehydrated. Just going about your daily activities in the winter months puts added pressure on a person’s hydration level.”

According to the release, bottled water is a convenient, safe and healthy choice for staying hydrated during the winter because it contains no calories, caffeine, sugar, artificial colors or flavors, alcohol or other unhealthy ingredients.
