IBWA urges consumers to stay hydrated this winter

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) reminds consumers that staying hydrated during winter is just as important as staying hydrated during the warmer seasons.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) urges consumers to keep hydrated throughout the winter months, according to a press release.

IBWA explains that staying hydrated in the winter is just as important as staying hydrated in the warmer months, as the air is drier and can cause the loss of moisture in the body, stated the release.

“Staying properly hydrated throughout the winter is something people often forget as the temperature drops,” said IBWA Vice President of Communications Chris Hogan. “Bottled water is an ideal beverage choice during and after the holiday season, when the winter air is drier, and people don’t notice their own moisture loss as much as in the summer months.”

Hogan continues in the release, “But what we don’t necessarily realize is that cold winter air is much drier than humid summer air. This impacts the amount of moisture our bodies naturally absorb from the environment — both outside and inside heated buildings, which also have much drier air.”

In the release Hogan also notes that just because a person may not perspire, doesn’t mean he or she will not become dehydrated.
