Its focus is on the protection of water resources is vital in today's environment. The largest users of water in many industrial and manufacturing settings is the utilities section -- cooling water and boiler water. Not only is proper control integral to successfully running these processes, the conservation of these water resources in equally important.

For cooling water control, the goal is to concentrate the water as much as is feasible to insure minimum water usage (called control of cycles of concentration), but to also maintain the proper water chemistry- both due to the concentration of harmful constituents and the maintenance of beneficial corrosion and fouling control agents.

This is a great balancing act - keeping everything is just the right concentration and equilibrium for everything to work just right. The key for maintaining these balances is using online monitoring tools. Although the common tools of pH control, hardness control, conductivity control and others have been practiced for some time, the tools continue to get better.
